Established in the second quarter of the century XVI, it was rebuilt several times. Out of the original construction, some walls turning south and an inner window remain today.
In 1677 the main staircase was reconstructed, dating from 1751 the construction of the main bulk.
At the end of the XIX century and during the New State, profound inner changes were introduced, such as the heightening of the right wings of the building, dating from 1997 the setting of its current outline.
In the past, coexisted here, cumulatively with the Town Hall, the District Court, the Theater D. Fernando and the Royal Association of the Volunteer Firefighters of Ponte de Lima.
