Capela das Pereiras (chapel)

This temple was originally ordered to be built in 1525, by Pedro Afonso Fiúza and his wife Catarina Madriz, replacing a small hermitage in that place. The baroque architectonic characteristics that are presently seen, result from a deep reform dated from 1818. In a complete condition of degradation, the Chapel of Pereiras was donated to the Town Hall by its owners in 1979, with the last construction works dating from 1998, when the new choir was built and the support premises to accomplish cultural events, the bell tower remaining unfinished as it had always happened throughout its history.

n its interior, we some polychrome paintings in the granite of the arch of the transept, images belonging to the property of the Chapel, and the installation of part of the altarpiece of century XVIII that is left of the degradation it was subject to for years.
